Purpose of the Research
You are being asked to take part in research being conducted by Partha Chanda, a graduate student in the Department of Education at Rutgers University. The purpose of this research is to examine student experiences with the Path 2 Success / Navigate platform at Rutgers University, Newark campus. By sharing your thoughts you can help improve the understanding of the academic advising needs for students and the overall student experience. About 20 participants are expected to take part.
What will I be asked to do?
If you agree to take part, you will participate in one interview lasting about 30–45 minutes. The interview may be audio or video recorded for reference. No photographs are required. Your name will remain confidential; findings will be reported in aggregate.
Risks / Discomforts
A potential risk is breach of confidentiality; a data security plan is in place to minimize this risk. Some questions might make you uncomfortable — you may skip those questions or withdraw at any time. If you stop the interview your responses will not be saved.
Potential Benefits
There may be no direct benefit to you. Your participation will contribute to knowledge about student experiences with Path 2 Success and may inform future advising programs to promote student success and graduation.
Compensation
You will receive a $100 Barnes & Noble gift card for participating. Participation remains voluntary.
Privacy & Confidentiality
All efforts will be made to keep responses confidential, but total confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. Your name will be coded with a pseudonym. Identifying information will be stored separately in a password-protected file and responses will be deleted six years after analysis. Interview audio/video or notes will be stored on a secure Rutgers drive. De-identified data may be used for further research without additional consent.
Voluntary Participation & Withdrawal
Participation is voluntary. You may withdraw at any time and may request deletion of your responses in writing to the PI, Partha Chanda. Once identifiers are removed, withdrawal is no longer possible because responses cannot be linked back to you.
